DSP News Release: New Castle Man Assaulted during Robbery


Location:  200 Block of Christiana Road, New Castle, DE


Date of Occurrence: Sunday, January 11, 2011 at 10:45 p.m.


Victim:  20 year old New Castle man


Suspects:  Black male, 18-25 years of age, 5’08”-5’09” tall, 150-160 lbs, black hair, brown eyes, with “scruff” on his chin. He was last seen wearing a dark blue down jacket with fir around the collar, blue jeans, and black gloves.




New Castle- A New Castle man was injured after being assaulted during a strong arm robbery in New Castle last night.


The incident occurred as a 20 year old New Castle resident had just left the 7-11 convenience store located on Christiana and Airport Roads at approximately 10:45 p.m. and was responding to his residence in the Georgetown Manor Apartments. The victim advised the investigating troopers that as he walked through the parking lot he was then approached from behind and knocked to the ground by a male suspect who then proceeded to assault him. The suspect then removed the victim’s wallet from his pants pocket and then fled the area. He was last seen running in a southbound direction across DE Rt. 273. The victim was transported by EMS to the Christiana Hospital where he was treated for his injuries which are believed to be serious.
