Selbyville(Pollybranch area)-The Delaware State Police Sussex Drug Unit and Delaware State Police Governors Task Force Wednesday January 5, 2011 concluded a month long investigation into drug distribution at a residence in the 39000 block of Washington Avenue Selbyville Delaware. 

 

Members of the Delaware State Police Sussex Drug Unit, Governors Task Force, Special Operations Response Teams, and Aviation section were all utilized during the execution of the search. 

 

 When Troopers arrived on scene David Mitchell began fleeing from officers.  Mitchell was apprehended a short distance away and found to have possessed approximately 1.2 grams of crack cocaine. 

 

Delaware State Police as a result of their search additionally located Sandra M. Handy inside the residence on Washington Street.  Handy was subsequently charged with Criminal Nuisance.  Handy is alleged to have been allowing continuous drug activity at her residence. 

 

Delaware State Police after searching Handy’s residence and surrounding property seized $754.00 United States Currency, 4 All-Terrain Vehicles and a moped.  After performing checks on the all-terrain vehicles it was discovered that one was previously reported stolen in Delaware while a second had been previously reported stolen in the State of Maryland.  Delaware State Police is still investigating the status of the remaining vehicles. 

 

Mitchell after being charged was remanded to Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $6,500 cash bond.  Handy was released after being charged with Criminal Nuisance.
