Laurel-On Sunday January 2, 2011 around 9:20 a.m. the victim Alfred B. Stanley died from injuries sustained in a shooting at Da’ Spot Dance Club located at 32109 Lou’s Discount Lane Laurel Delaware. 

On January 3, 2011 a Post Mortem Examination was performed at the Office of Chief Medical Examiners in Baltimore Maryland.  The cause of death has been found to be a SINGLE gunshot wound to the head.  The manner of death was ruled as homicide.  

Delaware State Police has been receiving information through Crime Stoppers and through the Delaware State Police Homicide lines with information pertaining to this investigation. 

Delaware State Police is continuing their investigation into the New Year’s Eve shooting and is still requesting citizens with information related to the homicide to contact the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit at 302-739-5939.  Callers may remain anonymous. Victim of Shooting Dies of Injuries

The victim of the shooting that occurred on Friday, December 31, 2010 at the Da’ Spot Dance Club has died as a result of his injuries. The victim, identified as 62 year old Alfred Stanley of Hurlock, MD, was pronounced dead at 9:20 a.m. this morning at the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD. His body was turned over to the Maryland Medical Examiner’s Office located in Baltimore, where an autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause of death. This case is now being investigated as a homicide. No arrests have been made at this time.

DSP News Release: Detectives Probe Shooting in Laurel

Laurel- Delaware State Police detectives are currently investigating a shooting that took place at a night club in Laurel late last night.

The incident occurred at the Da’ Spot, which is an under 21 dance club, located in the 11000 block of Trussum Pond Road in Laurel, DE. Troopers were called to the club for the reports of a shooting and arrived to learn that there had been a large fight between two groups of people in the parking lot of the club. During the fight, an unknown suspect produced an unknown type of weapon and began shooting. One of the shots that were fired struck a 62 year old male in the head. EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to the Peninsula Regional Medical Center in Salisbury, MD where he was admitted in critical condition.

The investigation into this incident is continuing. There has been no arrest made at this time.
