DSP News Release: Troopers Probe Robbery of Storage Facility

Location:  Pencader Self Storage, 101 Executive Drive, Newark, DE

Date of Occurrence:  Thursday, January 06, 2011 at 1:45 p.m.

Victim:  21 year old Middletown, DE man

Suspects:  Male, 5’10”-6’00” tall, 160-190 lbs, with an average build. He was last seen wearing a dark colored multi-colored jacket, blue jeans, dark glasses, and dark shoes.

Newark- Delaware State Police robbery detectives are investigating the robbery of a self storage facility that occurred this afternoon in Newark.

The incident occurred at approximately 1:45 p.m. as a male suspect entered the Pencader Self Storage facility office located in the 100 block of Executive Drive in the Pencader Industrial Complex. The suspect approached the customer service counter where he confronted the 21 year old victim seated behind the counter and demanded the money from the cash register. No weapon was displayed or implied. The suspect then went to the rear of the counter and pushed the victim out of the way. He then proceeded to remove an undisclosed amount of money from the cash register. The suspect then left the office and fled in an unknown direction. The victim was not hurt.
