DSP News Release: Robbery Suspect in Custody
Resume- Ryan Burkett, the suspect wanted by the Delaware State Police for the February 22nd robbery of the Learning Express Toys store on Concord Pike in Wilmington, is currently in custody in Delaware County Pennsylvania.
On Thursday, February 24, Burkett, who was also wanted in Pennsylvania for an outstanding capias for Violation of Probation, surrendered to an officer from the Ridley Township Police Department who in turn turned him over to the Delaware County Sherriff’s Department. Ryan Burkett is currently being held in the Delaware County Prison and will be extradited to Delaware upon his release.

DSP News Release: Suspect Named in Robbery
Suspect: Ryan Burkett, 27, unknown address.
Charges: Robbery 1st degree (2 counts)
Resume- Delaware State Police detectives have positively identified a suspect in the robbery of the Learning Express Toys store located on Concord Pike in Wilmington that occurred on Tuesday, February 22nd.
Detectives have obtained warrants on Ryan Burkett charging him with two counts of Robbery 1st degree. Burkett has been linked to the robbery after a witness provided detectives with the registration number of a white work van that he had been observed entering after the robbery occurred. Through further investigation detectives learned that Burkett had asked an acquaintance for a ride to the Concord Square Shopping Center and had committed the robbery of the Learning Express Toys without the driver’s knowledge.
Ryan Burkett is 6’01 inches tall with brown hair and a thin build. He has no known address however; he has lived in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Colorado. Burkett should be considered armed and dangerous.

DSP News Release: Detectives Investigate Robbery of Toy Store
Location: Learning Express Toys, 4239 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE
Date of Occurrence: Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at 6:00 p.m.
Victim:
-31 year old Wilmington, DE female -18 year old Wilmington, DE female
Suspects:
White male, 25-29 years of age, 6’00-6’02” tall, 170-180 lbs, with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a plaid jacket with a grey hooded sweatshirt underneath, and a baseball cap. He was also armed with a handgun.
Resume: Wilmington- Delaware State Police detectives are investigating the robbery of a Wilmington area toy store that occurred early last night.
The incident occurred at approximately 6:00 p.m. as a male suspect entered the Learning Express Toys store located in the 4000 block of Concord Pike in Wilmington. The suspect approached the sales counter and confronted two female employees of the store. He then displayed a weapon and demanded money from the victims. The victims complied with the suspect’s demands and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash. The suspect then ran out of the store and fled in an unknown direction. The victims were not injured.
