State Police early Thursday morning investigated the theft of a 2011 GMC Yukon from a residence on Kings Creek Drive Rehoboth.  During the investigation On-Star services contacted State Police and provided the location of the stolen Yukon.

State Troopers responded to the Econo Lodge located at 19540 Coastal Highway Rehoboth Beach and observed a beige Yukon in the parking lot.  When Troopers approached the vehicle, Black exited and fled from officers.

Black was apprehended after a short foot pursuit and searched.  Upon searching Black Troopers located a key to a 2003 Toyota Camry.  The Toyota was parked next to the GMC Yukon in the hotel parking lot.  The Toyota was reported stolen to the police on February 8th from Broadfield Plantations Drive Lewes.

State Police and Rehoboth Beach detectives conducted investigative interviews with Black and were able to link him to burglaries within both police agency jurisdictions.  (Please contact Rehoboth Beach PD regarding their investigation, Det. Sullivan point of contact)

Detectives additionally searched a Rehoboth area storage facility maintained by Black which contained a large quantity of stolen merchandise from burglaries he committed.

Black was charged in connection to 10 burglaries and two vehicle thefts.  Black was arraigned yesterday through Justice of the Peace Court 3 and remanded to Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $52,400 secured bond.
