DSP News Release: 2010 Delaware State Police Trooper of the Year and Civilian Employee of the Year Ceremonies Announcement

• Superintendent Colonel Robert M. Coupe, Delaware State Police

Dover-On behalf of Colonel Robert M. Coupe Superintendent Delaware State Police would like to announce the forthcoming ceremonies to name the recipients of the 2010 Delaware State Police Trooper of the Year and 2010 Delaware State Police Civilian Employee of the Year Award.

Each year the Delaware State Police Executive Staff selects one civilian employee for the Civilian of the Year Award.  Civilian employees are nominated for this award for outstanding performance and meeting the following criteria:

1. Exceptional service as identified by the employee’s performance evaluations
2. A consistent record of such service through their years of employment
3. Recognized by their peers as having outstanding character and integrity

Additionally, the Delaware State Police Executive Staff selects one Trooper for the Trooper of the Year Award.  Troopers nominated must be recognized by their peers as having outstanding character and integrity and whose actions or performance significantly exceeded expectations during the previous calendar year.

The ceremonies will not only celebrate the announcement of Trooper and Civilian of the Year, but also recognize the other distinguished nominees.  The ceremony will be held in Wilmington University’s Dover Campus auditorium promptly at 12 noon. 

Immediately following the ceremony the newly announced honorees will be available for a brief photographic session.

Designated Media Area-An area very close to the awards presentation has been established.  Please contact a PIO to locate this area once you have arrived.

Photo Session:  As Colonel Coupe is awarding the Trooper and Civilian of the Year award the media is welcomed to come forward and take a photograph.  Please be cognizant of family members also taking photographs in this area as well.

Formal Photo Session: At the conclusion of the ceremonies a more formal photo session encompassing Governor Markell, Secretary Schiliro and Colonel Coupe and the award recipients has been established.
