DSP News Release: Troopers Investigate Large Fight with Shots Fired
Location: Ramada Inn, 260 Chapman Road, Newark, DE
Date of Occurrence: Saturday, February 12, 2011 at 11:55 p.m.
Suspect: Black male last seen wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt.
Resume: Newark- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating the report of shots fired after a large party at a local motel last night.
The incident occurred at approximately 11:55 p.m. last night as troopers were called to respond to the Ramada Inn located in the 200 block of Chapman Road, Newark, for the report of a fight. Upon their arrival the responding troopers learned that there had been a large party of approximately 300-400 teenaged patrons taking place in the motel. During the party, several fights broke out in the parking lot, and at one point, at least two gunshots were fired into the air. Witnesses revealed that the shots were possibly fired by a male suspect armed with a handgun. However, the suspect had fled prior to the arrival of the responding troopers. There were no injuries reported. This incident remains under investigation at this time.
