DSP News Release: Robbery Suspects Identified

-Deborah L. Reilly, 46, Hartly, DE

 

-John E. Reilly, 47, Wilmington, DE

Delaware State Police detectives have obtained arrest warrants on Deborah L. Reilly and John E. Reilly in connection with the strong arm robbery of a 77 year old Newark, DE female that occurred last week in the parking lot of the Shop Rite store in Stanton.

 

Detectives were contacted by the Pennsylvania State Police on Friday, February 4, 2011 after they had taken both John and Deborah Reilly into custody in Media, PA. The Pennsylvania State Police had been investigating the Reilly’s for similar type crimes that had been occurring in their jurisdiction. During a search of the suspect’s vehicle, which was a tan Chrysler Town and Country mini van, numerous purses and identifications were located. A subsequent interview of the Reilly’s by Delaware detectives led to the issuance of warrants against them for the above listed crimes. Deborah and John Reilly are currently being held in the Delaware County Prison and will be arrested by Delaware detectives upon their extradition back to Delaware. 

 

In addition to the strong arm robbery which had occurred at the Shop Rite, detectives linked the Reilly’s to the theft of a purse belonging to a 41 year old Hockessin, DE woman which had occurred in the parking lot of the Lantana Square Shopping Center on Friday, December 31, 2010.

DSP News Release: Victim Injured during Strong Arm Robbery in Wilmington

 

Location:  Parking lot of Shop Rite Grocery Store, 1600 W. Newport Pike, Wilmington, DE

 

Date of Occurrence:  Tuesday, February 01, 2011 at 1:40 p.m.

 

Victim: 

 

-77 year old Newark, DE female

 

Suspects:  

 

Suspect 1: White female, 30-40 years of age with blonde hair.

 

Suspect 2: White male (no further description)

 

Resume:  

Wilmington- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a strong arm robbery that occurred early this afternoon outside of Stanton.

 

The incident occurred at approximately 1:40 p.m. today as a 77 year old Newark woman was in the parking lot of the Shop Rite Store. As the victim was in the process of loading her car with groceries, she was approached by a vehicle described as being beige in color and possibly a mini-van. The victim advised that a female suspect exited the car and proceeded to grab her pocketbook that was in her shopping cart. The victim also grabbed her purse and a struggle ensued. During the struggle, the victim and the suspect both fell toward the open passenger side door of the car, with the suspect falling inside. It was at this point that the male operator of the car began to drive off, dragging the victim a short distance and possibly running over her legs and hands before she let go of the purse. The vehicle then fled in an unknown direction. 

 

The victim was transported by EMS to the Christiana Hospital where she was being treated for injuries she sustained in the incident. Her injuries are not considered to be life threatening. The investigation into this incident is on going.
