Resume: Newark-Delaware State Police early Saturday morning charged Anthony J. Carter for suspicion of drunk driving after he was observed speeding.
A Delaware State Trooper was on SR 1 south of Red Lion Creek when he observed a vehicle traveling over the posted speed limit of 65 MPH. The Trooper activated his speed enforcement unit (radar) which confirmed his suspicions. The Subaru was traveling 94 MPH in a 65 mph zone.
The Delaware State Trooper attempted to stop the 2001 Subaru by activating the patrol car’s lights and siren however Carter continued on his way. Carter while driving committed numerous traffic violations and also struck a Delaware Department of Transportation sign.
Carter was eventually apprehended on Cathy’s Court (Dead end road) off Old Forge Road New Castle. Carter was charged with his 4th Offense of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol and remanded to Howard Young Correctional Center on $2,700 secured bond. Delaware State Police was assisted by New Castle County Police Department in this investigation. Anthony J. Carter |
