DSP News Release: Man Wanted for Domestic Related Kidnapping Arrested

On Thursday, February 3, 2011 Joseph B. Callahan turned himself in at Delaware State Police Troop 9 in Odessa, DE. Callahan was then arrested on the below list of charges. He was arraigned at JP Court 2 and released after posting $15,150.00 secured bail.

DSP News Release: Dover Man Wanted After Domestic Related Kidnapping

Location:  1900 Block of Clayton-Delaney Road, Clayton, DE

Date of Occurrence:  Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at 12:30 a.m.

Victims: 

-21 year old Clayton, DE woman

-23 year old Clayton, DE woman

Suspect:  

-Joseph B. Callahan, 40, Dover, DE

Charges:

-Robbery 2^nd degree, Burglary 2^nd Degree, Offensive Touching, Criminal Mischief

Resume:  

Clayton- The Delaware State Police are currently searching for a Dover man after he entered a home and forced a female into his car early Tuesday morning.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. as Joseph B. Callahan of Dover, DE entered a home in the 1900 block of Clayton-Delaney Road without permission. Once inside, Callahan grabbed his ex-girlfriend, a 21 year old woman, and forced her out of the home and into his vehicle which was parked in the driveway. As this was occurring the homeowner, a 23 year old female, called police. Callahan then fled the area with the 21 year old still in the car, driving along Clayton-Delaney Road. While in the car, the suspect demanded money from the victim, however, after she advised that she did not have any, the suspect returned her to the home and allowed her to exit the car. Callahan also exited the vehicle and then broke a window out of the 21 year old female’s car before fleeing the scene.  Responding troopers searched the area for Callahan but were unable to locate him. Neither victim was injured in this incident. Joseph Callahan is described as a white male, 5’07” tall and 144 lbs. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
