TWO CHARGED IN LAUREL DRUG INVESTIGATION

DSP News Release: Two Charged In Laurel Drug Investigation

Resume: Laurel-Delaware State Police Sussex Drug Unit and the Delaware State Police Governors Task Force arrested two Laurel men following an investigation into illegal drug sales on Oasis Drive behind the Oasis Truck Plaza Laurel Delaware.
Delaware State Police on Monday January 31, 2011 charged Darrell Bevins and Nathaniel Edwards both of Laurel for conducting illegal drug sales, possessing crack cocaine, Oxycodone and Alprozolam prescription medication. Delaware State Police while conducting surveillance observed Bevins and Edwards appearing to be engaged a drug transaction.
Delaware State Police next were able to detain Edwards and found he was in possession of two Alprozolam pills. Delaware State Police then contacted Darrell Bevins on Oasis Drive and after searching him located approximately 9.4 grams of crack cocaine, 20 Oxycodone pills and 26 grams of marijuana wrapped in 15 individual bags. Delaware State Police additionally seized over $3,200.00 United States Currency from Bevins.
Delaware State Police during the course of their investigation were able to determine that Edwards and Bevins did indeed exchange a quantity of crack cocaine with each other while under surveillance.
Delaware State Police charged Darrell Bevins and Nathaniel Edwards who were both then committed to Sussex Correctional Institute on $13,000 and $5,000 cash bond respectively. |
