DSP News Release: State Police Charge Laurel Teacher Following Criminal Investigation

Resume: Millsboro/Laurel-Delaware State Police Monday January 31, 2011 after being notified of allegations of inappropriate behavior began an investigation of a possible inappropriate relationship between a Laurel High School teacher and Laurel High School student.
Delaware State Police as a result of anonymous information received and information obtained during the course of their criminal investigation learned that Thomas Stetina-42 a Laurel High School teacher developed a relationship with a 17 year old Laurel High School student. Additionally Delaware State Police learned that Stetina provided alcohol to the student as well as consuming a quantity of marijuana on at least two occasions. Delaware State Police also learned the incidents are alleged to have occurred at Stetina’s residence as well as the student.
Delaware State Police charged Stetina with 2 counts of Distribution of (Marijuana) a Non-Narcotic Controlled Substance to a Minor, Endangering the Welfare of a Child and Providing Alcohol to an Underage Person. Stetina is being held at Sussex Correctional Institute on $4,600.00 secured bond.
