DSP News Release: Delaware State Police Probe Attempted Robbery

Resume: Marydel-Delaware State Police Monday January 31, 2011 investigated an attempted robbery which occurred on the 800 block of Halltown Road E/O Marydel Delaware.
Delaware State Police learned the attempted robbery occurred around 12:08 p.m. in the parking lot of Buono Pizza 825 Halltown Road Marydel. The 48 year old Dover man is alleged to have agreed to meet Lexi M. Whiteley -20 of Ridgely Maryland in order give her money for an undisclosed reason.
When the victim arrived in the parking lot of the business he was approached by two males described as follows: Suspect-3 white male carrying a handgun and suspect-4 a Hispanic male wearing a mask to cover his identity. The two Suspects demanded cash from the victim while suspect 3 pointed a handgun at the victim.
For an unknown reason the suspects fled without taking any property from the victim. The victim then watched as the suspects ran to and entered the bed of a pickup truck parked in the same business parking lot displaying Maryland registration.
Delaware State Police obtained registration information from the victim and linked the ownership to Johnathan L. Allen-21 of Henderson Maryland. Not long after the robbery Delaware State Police made contact with Allen and yesterday January 31, 2011 charged him with attempted robbery and related crimes. Allen is the alleged driver of the pickup truck.
Additionally Lexi Whiteley was linked to orchestrating the attempted robbery of the victim. Whiteley was also witnessed to be in the pickup truck with Allen. Delaware State Police have created arrest warrants for Whiteley and are actively seeking her whereabouts.
Delaware State Police are continuing their investigation in attempts to identify the two other suspects involved in this case and are seeking the public’s assistance. Callers may remain anonymous.
