Resume:

Dover-Troopers have charged a Dover man in connection with the attempted burglary of an unoccupied residence that occurred overnight in Capitol Park, Dover.

Delaware State Police have charged Jerome Nance-38 of Dover with a total of 5 charges related to Attempted Burglary Second Degree, Theft, Criminal Mischief, Possession of Burglar Tools, and Criminal Impersonation. Nance was committed to JTVCC on $7000.00 Secured Bond.

The arrest of Nance occurred last night at approximately 10:40 p.m. when Troopers responded to the area of the 200 block of South Governor Boulevard after vigilant community members contacted State Police after observing a suspect outside of a house that was being renovated. The suspect was observed removing a large AC unit which has attached to the home and then placing the unit next to a fence in the yard of the home. Neighbors reported that the suspect was last seen walking down South Governor Boulevard, wheeling a large black trash can.

Troopers responding to the area of the burglary were quickly able to locate the suspect, later identified as Nance, wheeling the trash can down road.  He was taken into custody without incident. Preliminary investigation determined that inside of the trash can was a pair of shears used for cutting metal. After further investigation, Troopers were also able to connect Nance to the attempted burglary of the unoccupied residence, where Nance attempted to gain entry inside of the home by damaging a window screen and rear entry door.

“The Delaware State Police would like to thank the public for their continued support, involvement, and vigilance in providing information and reporting suspicious persons and activity.”
