DSP News Release:  Robbery Suspect Caught After Hold Up of Walgreens

Location:  Walgreens Pharmacy, 1120 Pulaski Highway, Bear, DE

Date of Occurrence:   Saturday, December 17, 2011 at approximately 12:05 a.m.

Victim:

à        45 year old, male employee (Walgreens Pharmacy)

à        Committed to HRYCI on $30,000.00 secured bail

Resume:  

Bear, DE - Troopers arrest Donald E. Hardy-52 of Bear shortly after a Robbery was committed at Walgreens Pharmacy located at 1120 Pulaski Highway in Bear, DE.

The incident occurred shortly after midnight on December 17, as the suspect entered the Walgreens Pharmacy located on Pulaski Highway. The suspect approached the 45 year old male employee at the pharmacy counter and presented a demand note for prescription narcotics implying that he had a gun.  The employee complied and turned over an undisclosed amount of narcotic medication. The suspect fled the store on foot with the narcotics. There were no injuries as a result of this incident.

A short time later, a Trooper patrolling the area of the Walgreens spotted a male matching the suspect description walking along US 40.  The pedestrian, who was later identified as Hardy, was then taken into custody without incident.

Through further investigation Troopers were able to connect Hardy to the robbery of the Walgreens.

Hardy was charged with the above crime and committed to HRYCI on $30,000 Secured Bond.
