DSP News Release: Troopers Investigate Department Store Burglary

 

Location: Macy’s Department Store, Concord Mall, 4747 Concord Pike, Wilmington, DE

 

Date of Occurrence:  Thursday, December 15, 2011 at 5:15 a.m.

 

Suspects:  

 

  • Two males dressed in dark clothing (Video surveillance is not available at this time)

Wilmington, DE- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a burglary which occurred at the Macy’s Department store in Wilmington early this morning.

 

At approximately 6:25 a.m. this morning troopers were called to respond to the Macy’s Department Store located in the Concord Mall on US Rt. 202 in Wilmington for the report of a burglary. Upon their arrival troopers were contacted by an employee of the Macy’s who advised them that at approximately 5:15 a.m. this morning as she was in her office located inside of the store, she had received a call from the company that monitors the burglary alarm for the store. The company advised her that they had received an alarm activation from one of the store doors. The employee then checked the doors which at first appeared to be intact. Upon further inspection of the sales floor however, the employee discovered that someone had in fact broken the glass to the doors and entered the store. They then proceeded to respond the jewelry counter where they pried open the doors of one display case and smashed the glass to several other cases. The suspects then removed a large amount of jewelry from the cases before fleeing from the store. Further investigation by the responding Troopers revealed that the suspects appeared to be two males dressed in all dark clothing.

 

This incident remains under investigation at this time. The Delaware State Police are asking anyone who may have any information in reference to this incident to contact the Burglary Unit at Troop 2 at 302-834-2630 ext. 284.
