DSP News Release: Troopers Investigate Purse Snatching on New Castle Avenue
Location: · McDonalds Restaurant (parking lot), 3014 New Castle Avenue, New Castle, DE
Date of Occurrence: · Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 3:30 p.m.
Victim: · 51 year old New Castle woman
Suspect: · Black male, 20-30 years of age, 5’10”-6’0” tall, 150-160 lbs, thin build. Last seen wearing black hooded sweatshirt and dark pants.
Resume: New Castle-Troopers are investigating the strong armed robbery of a McDonalds Restaurant customer that occurred in the parking lot of the McDonalds Restaurant on New Castle Avenue.
The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 p.m. yesterday afternoon in the parking lot of the McDonalds. The 51 year old female victim had parked her vehicle in the parking lot and got out, when she was approached by a male suspect. The suspect asked victim for gas money and she refused and continued to walk toward the McDonalds. The suspect then approached her from behind and attempted to grab her purse from her shoulder. A struggle ensued and the suspect forcibly removed the purse and fled on foot towards West Avenue with the victim’s purse that contained money and personal property. The victim was not injured as a result of this incident.
