MARYLAND MAN INJURED IN ROLLOVER CRASH


DSP News Release:  Maryland Man Injured in Rollover Crash

 

Location: Pencader Drive near Corporate Boulevard, Newark, DE

 

Date and Time of Occurrence:  Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 5:30 p.m.

 

Operator and Vehicle:

 

  • Edward F. Lewis, 62, Elkton, Maryland
  • 2011 Toyota Tundra

 

 

Charges:

 

  • Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
  • Driving on the Wrong Side of a Roadway
  • Reckless Driving

 

Resume:   

Newark, DE- The Delaware State Police investigated a one vehicle personal injury crash in which a Maryland man was injured that occurred late yesterday afternoon.

 

The incident happened at approximately 5:30 p.m. on Saturday as Edward F. Lewis, 62, was operating a Toyota Tundra and was traveling westbound on Pencader Drive in the area of Corporate Boulevard in Newark, DE. For an unknown reason, Lewis’ vehicle left the south side of the roadway overturning onto its roof. The Toyota then struck two trees and a cable television box before coming to rest. Lewis, who was wearing a seatbelt, was trapped in his vehicle for approximately 20 minutes until he was freed by responding EMS workers.

 

Edward Lewis was then removed from the scene by EMS and transported to the Christiana Hospital where he was treated for non life threatening injuries. He was citied by Troopers with one count each of Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, Reckless Driving, and Driving on the Wrong Side of the Roadway.
