DSP News Release: Troopers Investigate Citizens Bank Robbery 

Location:

·         Citizens Bank, 4435 Kirkwood Highway (Kirkwood Plaza), Wilmington, DE

Date of Occurrence:  

·         Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 12:00 p.m.

Victim:

·         27 year old female employee

·         45 year old female employee

Suspect:

·         Hispanic male, 26-38 years of age, 5’03”-5’07” tall, average to stocky build. Last seen wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt, black jacket, dark pants, and dark baseball hat. Suspect was armed with an unknown type handgun.

Wilmington-Delaware State Police Robbery Detectives are investigating the robbery of the Citizens Bank located in the Kirkwood Plaza Shopping Center earlier today.

The incident occurred at approximately 12:00 p.m. as a male suspect entered the Citizens Bank located on Kirkwood Highway.  The suspect approached the bank tellers, presented a demand note for money, and displayed a handgun. The suspect also provided a bag for the tellers to place the money in.  The tellers complied and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash along with a dye pack, contained within the money.  The suspect fled the bank on foot. The dye pack exploded as the suspect was fleeing.  The suspect continued fleeing in an unknown direction.
