TROOPERS INVESTIGATE SHOOTING, FOUR SEASONS


DSP News Release: Troopers Investigate Shooting, Four Seasons 

 

Location:

·         Burger King Restaurant, 600 Plaza Drive (Four Seasons Shopping Center), Newark, DE

 

Date of Occurrence:

·         Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 6:00 p.m.

 

Victim:

·         18 year old New Castle man

 

Suspect:

·         Black male, (no further description). Last seen wearing dark hooded sweatshirt. Armed with unknown type handgun. 

·         Surveillance photo’s not available at this time

 

Resume:

Newark-The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a shooting that has left an 18 year old man hospitalized with a gunshot wound to his upper body.

 

On Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at approximately 6:00 p.m., Troopers responded to the Burger King Restaurant located in the Four Seasons Shopping Center for the report of shots being fired. Preliminary investigation has determined that the 18 year old male victim entered the Burger King to meet with the male suspect to conduct an illegal drug transaction.  Both entered the restroom to complete the transaction when an altercation ensued between the suspect and the victim. The altercation moved from the restroom and continued in the dining area of the restaurant. The suspect produced an unknown type handgun and fired at least one round in the direction of the victim, but missed.  The victim fled the business through the parking lot, attempting to run to a waiting vehicle with the suspect giving chase. The suspect fired several more rounds in the direction of the victim, striking the victim in the upper body.  The victim was able jump into the vehicle that was being operated by an unidentified friend of the victim, and fled the parking lot.

 

Troopers responding to the reported shooting were given a description of the fleeing vehicle and were able to quickly locate it in the area of South College Avenue and I-95. Troopers determined that the victim was being driven to the Christiana Hospital to seek treatment.  

 

The victim was transported to the Christiana Hospital Trauma Center where he was admitted with non life threatening injuries from a gunshot wound to the upper body. 

 

State Police Detectives are attempting to identify the suspect involved in the shooting as well as locate additional witnesses to assist in the investigation into this incident. No other injuries were reported from this incident.
