Resume: Georgetown, De-Delaware State Police August 11, 2011 charged Maisha S. Williams-38 of Georgetown for her involvement in a fraud scheme at a Georgetown Delaware bank.
State Police fraud detectives July 11th were contacted by M & T Bank investigators regarding fraudulent bank transactions. State Police detectives learned that Chelsie Horsey-18 of Laurel on June 7th opened an account at the Georgetown branch of M & T Bank.
On June 10th Maisha Williams deposited an empty envelope allegedly containing $2,700 dollars into the M & T Bank ATM. Williams then immediately deposited a second envelope containing a check in the amount of $4,750.00. The check enclosed in the envelope however was drawn on a closed account. The deposits were made with the use of Horsey’s ATM card into Horsey’s account.
Once M & T Bank officials discovered the fraud attempt, they placed a hold on Horsey’s account. However before Horsey’s account could be closed successfully, purchases totaling $1,173.35 had already been made.
Delaware State Police arrested Maisha Williams on August 11th for Issuing a Bad Check, Attempted Theft and Theft by False Pretense and Conspiracy. State Police Detectives also obtained arrest warrants for Charles E. Wise Jr and Chelsie M. Horsey who both conspired with Brown in perpetrating the fraud scheme.
Williams was arraigned and remanded to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institute in lieu of $6,000.00 secured bond.
