Resume: New Castle- The Delaware State Police arrested two men on drug charges following a traffic stop on I-95 near New Castle.
The incident began at approximately 9:10 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, as a trooper on routine patrol stopped a 2011 Nissan Cube for speeding on southbound I-95 south of DE Rt. 141 near Newport. As the trooper made contact with the operator of the vehicle, later identified as Terrin J. Lindsay, and the passenger, later identified as Jason T. Lindsay, he detected the odor of marijuana coming from the interior of the vehicle. The trooper removed both subjects from the Nissan and placed them in his patrol vehicle in order to conduct a search of the car.
During the search of the vehicle the trooper located approximately 217 grams of cocaine, 9 oxycodone 30 mg. pills, and approximately 7 grams of marijuana inside of a duffel bag in the rear interior cargo area. While the Nissan was being searched, Jason Lindsay used his feet to kick out the window of a rear passenger door of the trooper’s vehicle. He then exited the patrol vehicle and ran across all five lanes of northbound I-95 before jumping over the raised concrete barrier and into the marsh. Multiple officers from the Delaware State Police, New Castle County Police, as well as the Delaware State Fire Marshal’s Office, responded to the scene and conducted a search for Jason Lindsay. However, after several hours, the search was ended without him being located.
Terrin Lindsay was arrested and charged with the above list of crimes. He was arraigned at JP Court #2 and then committed to the Howard Young Correctional Facility for lack of $449,501.00 cash bail.
At approximately 1:30 p.m. Jason Lindsay was apprehended after he was spotted at the edge of the marsh near Churchman’s Road. He was arrested and charged with the above list of crimes. He was then arraigned at JP Court #2 and committed to the Howard Young Correctional Facility for lack of $451,500.00 cash bail.
There are no photographs available for either defendant at this time.
