Clayton-The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday afternoon.  The crash occurred on Pearsons Grove Road E/O the Maryland line intersecting with Downs Chapel Road Clayton Delaware around 3:30 p.m.

The investigation revealed Wanda L. Clough-43 of Millington Maryland was driving her 1996 Ford Taurus southbound on Downs Chapel Road approaching a Y-shaped intersection with Pearsons Grove Road. 

Clough was attempting to turn onto Pearsons Grove Road but failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway.  Clough’s vehicle traveled off the roadway entering a private yard and crashed into a tree. 

As a result of the collision with the tree Clough’s vehicle caught fire.  Clough who is a paraplegic died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.
