DETECTIVES PROBE ROBBERY OF NEWARK AREA RESTAURANT

DSP News Release: Detectives Probe Robbery of Newark Area Restaurant
Location: Friendly’s Restaurant, 1500 Peoples Plaza, Newark, DE
Date of Occurrence: Sunday, August 14, 2011 at 12:45 a.m.
Suspects:
Suspect #1: Black male, 5’07” tall, 140-150 lbs, with an average build. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black hooded sweatshirt, a black mask, and black sneakers. He was also armed with a black handgun.
Suspect #2: Black male, 5’06” tall, 150-160 lbs, with an average build. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a black sweat shirt, a black mask, and black gloves. He was also armed with a shotgun.
Suspect #3: Black male with a thin build. He was last seen wearing all black clothing, a black face mask, and black gloves.
Suspect #4: Black male with a thin build. He was last seen wearing all black clothing, a black ski mask, and gloves.
Victim:
-23 year old male employee -59 year old male employee
Resume: Newark- Delaware State Police detectives are currently investigating the robbery of a Newark area restaurant that occurred early this morning.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:45 a.m. this morning as a 23 year old employee was leaving the Friendly’s Restaurant located in the Peoples Plaza Shopping Center in Newark. The victim, who was carrying the night’s proceeds from the restaurant, was approached by a male suspect who displayed a weapon. The suspect then forced the victim back into the restaurant. At this point, they were joined inside of the restaurant by three other male suspects. The victim was then forced to open the restaurant safe, as a second employee was forced to the ground and held at gunpoint. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, the suspects forced both of the victims into a refrigerator. They then fled from the restaurant in an unknown direction. The victims were not injured.
