The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 10, 2011 at approximately 5:00 p.m. as a Trooper on routine patrol spotted a Honda Accord that had been reported stolen.  The Honda Accord was occupied by two subjects.  The Trooper followed the stolen Honda into the Richardson Park development, where it came to a stop in the area of Belmont Avenue and Eureka Street.  During initial contact with the suspects, the Trooper discharged one round from her divisional issued weapon striking the driver’s side rear of the Honda. The suspects then fled on Belmont Avenue in the stolen Honda, and turned right onto the 200 block of North Dupont Road, coming to stop and abandoning the stolen vehicle with both subjects fleeing on foot.

After a search of the area, Troopers located one of the suspects in the vicinity of Champlain Avenue and Maryland Avenue, where he was taken into custody.   The second suspect was not located.

During the incident the female trooper suffered a laceration to her face and was treated and released at Christiana Hospital.

The 15 year old suspect suffered lacerations to hands and wrists while actively fleeing through backyards and over fences.  He was treated and released at Christiana Hospital.

No other injuries reported from this incident.

The 15 year old male was charged with the above crimes.  Following arraignment he was released to his family.
