Fatality Victim:
Resume: Georgetown-Delaware State Police Tuesday August 9th investigated a fatal motor vehicle crash at the intersection of Prettyman Road and Lewes-Georgetown Highway just E/O Georgetown Delaware.
The crash reported to police around 10:58 p.m. involved a 1996 Chevrolet Cavalier. The Chevrolet Cavalier driven by John J. Maisano-46 of Millsboro was traveling southbound on Prettyman Road at an unsafe speed prior to the crash.
Maisano’s vehicle continued through the intersection of Prettyman Road and across both travel lanes of SR 9 without stopping for a stop sign. Maisano’s vehicle traveled off the south edge of SR 9 into a densely wooded area and impacted several large trees.
Maisano was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Maisano was trapped inside his vehicle and died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash. The intersection was closed for over 2 hours while Troopers investigated the crash.
A preliminary investigation suggests Maisano’s vehicle may have been involved in a hit and run crash with several mailboxes at another location prior to this fatal crash. Alcohol and drugs are currently unknown.
