Dover-The Delaware State Police Kent County Governor’s Task Force Monday evening August 8, 2011 took Deshaun J. Harris of Dover into custody following a traffic stop. 

Monday around 11:45 p.m. Deshaun Harris was observed traveling in a Ford Windstar van on US 13 and Walnut Shade Road S/O Camden Delaware.  The Delaware State Police Kent County Governor’s Task Force following the traffic stop was able to take Harris into custody without incident. 

The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit obtained an arrest warrant charging him with Murder Second Degree (Recklessly Caused Death with Indifference to Human Life).  Harris was arraigned through Justice of the Peace Court 7 in Dover Delaware, and then remanded to James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $250,000 secured bond.

DSP News Release: Victim of Dover Assault Dies

Victim: Lamont D. Harris, Sr., 59, Dover, DE

Resume:

Dover- The victim of the serious assault that occurred on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 in the Rodney Village Apartments in Dover has died from his injuries. Lamont D. Harris, Sr, was pronounced dead at the Christiana Hospital on Friday, August 5.  As a result, detectives have now obtained a warrant charging the suspect, Deshaun J. Harris, with 2^nd Degree Murder.

As of this date, Deshaun Harris has not been apprehended and detectives are seeking the public’s help in locating him.

There is no known relationship between the victim and the suspect.

DSP News Release: Detectives Looking for Dover Man after Serious Assault

Location: Rodney Village Apartments, Webb Lane, Dover, DE

Date of Occurrence:  Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.

Suspect:    

-Deshaun J. Harris, 33, Dover, DE

-Black male, 5’06” tall, 140 lbs, black hair (bald), brown eyes

Charge:

-Assault 1^st Degree

Victim:  59 year old Dover, DE man

Resume: 

Dover- Delaware State Police detectives have obtained warrants on a 33 year old Dover, Delaware man after he assaulted and seriously injured another subject during an altercation.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, August 2, 2011 at approximately 7:00 p.m. after Deshaun Harris and a second male subject became involved in an altercation at the Rodney Village Apartments located on Webb Lane in Dover. During the altercation, Harris struck the second subject with such force that it knocked him unconscious. Harris then fled from the scene. The victim, a 59 year old resident of the Rodney Village Apartments, was transported by EMS to the Kent General Hospital. He was then transported to the Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE where he was admitted with serious head injuries.

Detectives have obtained a warrant charging Deshaun J. Harris with one count of Assault 1^st Degree.
