LAUREL WOMAN IN CRITICAL CONDITION FOLLOWING CRASH

Laurel Woman in Critical Condition Following Crash

Resume Update 08/04/11: Laurel-Delaware State Police closed portions of US 13 between Waller and Camp Roads Laurel earlier today for 3 hours while investigating a serious motor vehicle crash.
The crash occurred around 11:35 p.m. this morning on northbound US 13 at the intersection of Boyce Road Laurel Delaware. The investigation revealed that a 2008 Dodge Avenger driven by Edith Mastrocola-65 of Laurel was eastbound crossing the southbound lanes of US 13. Mastrocola next entered a crossover separating the north and southbound lanes.
Mastrocola failed to yield to northbound traffic and continued eastbound across US 13 northbound striking a 2000 Oldsmobile Bravado driven by Nahomie Faustin-43 of Laurel.
The Dodge Avenger struck the Oldsmobile in the left rear quarter panel spinning it out of control. The Oldsmobile rolled an undetermined number of times before coming to rest in the center median.
Faustin was flown to Christiana Hospital and is currently listed in critical condition. Faustin’s children a 13 male and 20 old female were transported to Nanticoke Hospital for precautionary reasons.
Mastrocola was not injured in the crash.
Delaware State Police have not charged Mastrocola as of yet and are continuing their investigation.

Resume: Laurel-Delaware State Police are currently on scene of a crash at the intersection of US 13 northbound and Boyce Road N/O Laurel Delaware.
Delaware State Police has requested US 13 to be temporarily shut down between Waller Road and Camp Road due to a vehicle rollover crash.
Motorists are advised to seek alternative routes of travel. |
