The crash was reported around 10:19 p.m. The investigation revealed that Eddie D. Smith Sr. of New Castle was heading westbound Delaware Route 4 on his Harley Davidson Motorcycle approaching Stanton Road. Smith failed to negotiate a sharp bend in the roadway, and then struck two concrete islands before being ejected from his motorcycle.
As a result of being ejected Smith suffered head trauma, then was transported to Christiana Hospital by emergency medical crews and admitted. Smith however succumbed to injuries sustained in the crash around 1:00 a.m. Saturday April 30, 2011.
