Resume: Angola-Delaware State Police on Saturday April 23, 2011 investigated at crash at the intersection of SR 24 John J. Williams Highway and Hollymount Road CR 48 west of Rehoboth Beach.
The crash investigation revealed that Eleanor M. Fisher of Harbeson was initially stopped at a stop sign on Hollymount Road southbound. Fisher was driving a 1994 Chevrolet Cavalier at the time of the crash.
The second vehicle, a 2003 Chrysler Town & Country mini-van driven by Wanda L. Story-49 of Lewes was traveling westbound on SR 24 approaching the Hollymount Road intersection.
Fisher, attempting to turn left onto SR 24 failed to observe the Chrysler Town & Country van, which had the right of way. Fisher’s vehicle was struck in the driver’s side by the van.
Fisher as a result of the crash sustained multiple fractures and initially was transported to Beebe Hospital before being transferred to Christiana Hospital. Delaware State Police on Thursday April 28, 2011 received notification from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner that Ms. Fisher died after developing complications from injuries sustained in the crash.
Wanda Story and a passenger sustained minor injuries in the crash, then were transported, treated and released from Beebe Hospital Lewes Delaware.
The Delaware State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit does not expect to charge Wanda Story in this investigation.
