DSP News Release: Smyrna Woman Charged with Attempted Burglary to Liquor Store

Resume: Smyrna-Early morning Thursday April 21st Delaware State Police and the Clayton Police department responded to a burglary alarm in the 600 block of Smyrna-Clayton Boulevard Smyrna Delaware.
The burglary alarm activation occurred at the Spruance City Liquor store around 2:34 a.m., after Angela D. Greenwood-36 of Smyrna Delaware attempted to break into the business.
Units from the Clayton Police Department were first to arrive on scene and observed Greenwood on the premises walking toward her car. Clayton Police took custody of Greenwood until State Troopers could arrive to continue the investigation.
The investigation revealed that Greenwood used a hammer to shatter the window of the business attempting to gain entry and caused under $1,000 in damage. Greenwood was unsuccessful in her attempt to enter the business.
After being transported to Delaware State Police Troop 3 Greenwood was charged with attempted burglary, criminal mischief and possession of burglar tools. Greenwood also had an outstanding capias through Kent County Superior Court for Theft. Greenwood was arraigned and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institute in lieu of $1,250.00 secured bond.
