THREE CHARGED IN BURGLARY AND DRUG INVESTIGATION

Resume: Dover-Delaware State Police have charged a Dover couple and Maryland man for burglary, theft, conspiracy, drug and criminal mischief charges following a traffic stop conducted on Tuesday April 19, 2011.
Delaware State Troopers on patrol in the area of E. Lebanon Road and S. State Street yesterday afternoon around 1 p.m. stopped a Saturn Ion driven by Melissa S. Cannon-32 of Dover. Also inside the vehicle with Cannon was her boyfriend Jeffery L. Peer-35 of Dover. State Troopers conducted a computer inquiry into Cannon’s name and discovered she had an active Felony Theft warrant created by the Harrington Police Department.
During the traffic stop Peer was searched and found to be in possession of 2.3 grams of crack cocaine, a glass smoking pipe used to injest crack cocaine and $559.00 United States Currency.
Prior to the traffic stop Cannon and Peer were suspected of committing an April 14th burglary of a Felton residence.
April 14, 2011 Burglary Investigation Felton-Delaware State Police Thursday April 14, 2011 handled a burglary investigation on the 5700 block of Carpenters Bridge Road Felton Delaware. During the burglary it was discovered that a silver Saturn Ion had pulled to the side of the 46 year old victim’s residence. A blue S-10 pickup owned by John P. Bodman-25 of Henderson Maryland was also at the residence during the commission of the crime.
While at the victim’s residence Cannon, Peer and Bodman forced entry into the residence and stole two televisions and two guitars valued at over $4,400.00.
State Police Officers through the course of their criminal investigation obtained confidential information linking Cannon, Peer and Bodman to the April 14th burglary.
Tuesday April 19, 2011 Delaware State Troopers, DSP Kent County Governor's Task Force and DSP Troop 3 Criminal Investigations Detectives executed a search warrant at a residence on the 500 block of Port Mahon Road Dover Delaware around 8:30 p.m., to search for evidence related to the April 14th burglary. The search of the residence did not end with the recovery of the stolen property; however did result in the seizure of varying quantities of illegal narcotic and non-narcotic drugs. Quantities of Marijuana, Diazepam, Clonazepam, Valium, Penicillin, Hydrochloride, Folvite and Fluconazole were located inside the residence. The approximate 89 grams of marijuana was found in stiffing racks for drying and manufacturing purposes. Bodman was found inside the residence and taken into custody at the time of the search warrant execution.
State Troopers yesterday charged Peer, Bodman and Cannon with an assortment of Burglary, theft, conspiracy and drug related offenses. Peer was arraigned and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center on $10,850 secured bond. Bodman was released after posting $12,000 secured bond and Cannon committed on $4,750.00 secured bond to Delores J. Baylor Correctional Institute.
