Resume: Dover-The Association of Public Safety Communications Officials International (APCO) honors the nation’s communications professionals each year during the second full week of April.
Just last week April 10th thru April 16th APCO celebrated National Public Safety Telecommunications Week. The weeklong event recognizes public safety call-takers and dispatchers who assist Law Enforcement, Fire Departments and Emergency Medical Crews in getting to where they are needed most in order to help others.
This week also honors the technicians responsible for keeping emergency phone lines and radio systems up and running smoothly.
The Association of Public Safety Communications Officials International Mid-Eastern Chapter, representing Delaware, Maryland and the District of Columbia at its recent awards luncheon and spring meeting held at the Dover Elks Lodge honored the following individuals:
Joe Mulford, the Delaware winner for “Center Director of the Year” displayed exceptional leadership with respect to maintaining appropriate contacts with the public, users and media on the proper use of emergency communications system and daily planning operations of the Communications Center just to name a few responsibilities.
The Team Award winners are a group of two or more individuals from the same communications agency that worked on a critical incident, event or project together.
National Public Safety Telecommunications Week was designed by APCO International to honor the extraordinary work performed on a daily basis by telecommunications professionals. "We are very proud of our award winners recognized by the local APCO Chapter last week” said Bill Carrow, State Police Communications Section Chief and President of APCO International. "They are the true unsung heroes that support the first responders on the street".
