HARTLY MAN CHARGED AFTER RUNNING VEHICLE INTO HOME


DSP News Release:  Hartly Man Charged after Running Vehicle into Home

 

Location: 2000 Block of Fords Corner Road, Hartly, DE

 

Date of Occurrence:  Friday, April 15, 2011 at 11:35 p.m.

 

Operators/Vehicles:

 

Operator: Scott T. Mitchell, 48, Hartly, DE

Vehicle: 2002 Dodge Stratus

 

Charges:

 

-4th Offense Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol

-Reckless Endangering 1st Degree

-Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage Accident

-Failure to Provide Information at a Collision Scene

-Failure to Report an Accident Involving Alcohol

Hartly- The Delaware State Police have arrested a Hartly, DE man after he ran his vehicle into an occupied home and then fled the area late last night.

 

The incident occurred as troopers were called to a home located in the 2000 block of Fords Corner Road, Hartly for the report of a vehicle striking a home. Upon their arrival, troopers were contacted by the owner of the residence who advised them that she had been lying in her bed at approximately 11:30 p.m. when the side of her home was struck by a vehicle, pushing her bed across the room. The victim advised that the vehicle then fled. The victim was not injured. Troopers located evidence at the scene indicating that the vehicle that struck the home was a Dodge Stratus.

 

Troopers then began a search of the area and were able to locate a 2002 Dodge Stratus with heavy damage to it located in a driveway at a residence in the 2000 block of Arthursville Road in Hartly. Troopers made contact with the homeowner, later identified as Scott T. Mitchell, and after questioning him, arrested him on the above listed charges.

 

Arraignment and bail information is not available for Mitchell at this time. A photo of Mitchell is also not available at this time.
