DSP News Release: Detectives Seek Public’s Help in Locating Robbery Suspect

Location: DE Rt. 7 (Limestone Road) south of Oregon Road, Wilmington, DE

Date of Occurrence: Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at approximately 8:00 a.m.

Victim:

-14 year old Wilmington, DE male 

Suspect:  Christopher F. McCormick, 23, Presidential Drive, Wilmington, DE

Description: White male, 23 years of age, 6’00’’ tall, 143 lbs., with a slender build. He has brown hair and hazel eyes with tattoos on his neck and upper right arm, as well as scars on his head and left shoulder.

Charges (Warrants on File):

-Robbery 1^st Degree

-Possession of a Deadly Weapon during the Commission of a Felony

-Kidnapping 2^nd Degree

-Criminal Mischief

Stanton- Delaware State Police robbery detectives are asking the public’s help in locating a Wilmington man wanted in connection with the robbery of a 14 year old male in January.

The incident occurred as a 14 year old male was walking home from school along Limestone Road and Oregon Road in Stanton at approximately 8:00 a.m. on January 26^th, 2011. The victim was approached by two male subjects, one of which advised that he was armed with a handgun. The suspect who advised that he had the weapon, then confronted the victim and ordered him to empty his pockets. The victim complied and turned over several personal items to the suspect. The suspect then produced a knife and told the victim to take them to his house so that they could get more of his property. The victim again complied and walked to his home as the suspect held the knife to his back. Upon reaching the victim’s house, he knocked on the door at which time his father answered. The two suspects then fled the area on foot. The victim was not injured.

After further investigation robbery detectives were able to identify Christopher F. McCormick as one of the two suspects involved in this incident. Detectives currently have warrants on file for McCormick charging him with the above list of crimes. Christopher McCormick should be considered armed and dangerous.
