DSP News Release: Troopers Search for Suspects in Wilmington Assault

 

Location:  S. Maryland Avenue and Broom Street, Wilmington, DE

 

Date of Occurrence:   Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 7:30 p.m.

 

Victim:  73 year old Wilmington man

 

Suspects:  Black male, young (no further description)

 

Resume:  

Wilmington- The Delaware State Police are searching for the suspect who assaulted and injured a Wilmington man as he walked to a store yesterday evening.

 

The incident occurred as a 73 year old Wilmington, DE man was walking along Maryland Avenue in the area of Broom Street at approximately 7:30 p.m. yesterday evening. The victim advised that as he passed a group of approximately 6-8 young male subjects he was suddenly struck with an unknown object from behind in the head by one of them. The victim, who suffered a laceration to the head, then fell to the ground. All of the subjects fled the area. The victim was transported from the scene to the Wilmington Hospital where he was treated for his injury.  

 

The Delaware State Police are asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any information to offer regarding this investigation, to please contact the Delaware State Police at Troop 6  at 302-633-5000.
