Resume: Delmar-Thursday April 7th Delaware State Police investigated a collision on Old Stage Road N/O SR 54 that occurred around 7:57 a.m.
During the investigation State Troopers learned that a stolen red Dodge Ram pickup truck was just involved in the traffic crash. The red pickup truck belonged to a 61 year old Salisbury man; however he was not the operator.
The victim’s truck was stolen from his property moments before the collision. When State Police spoke with witnesses they described the suspect as a white male, with a partially shaved head and braided hair down the center, wearing a black shirt and blue jeans.
The traffic investigation revealed the red Dodge pickup driven by Kenneth R. Worley-44 of Parsonsburg Maryland was exiting a Delmar neighborhood and failed to yield right of way to oncoming traffic. Worley entered upon Old Stage Road and struck a Mercury van driven by Austin Ellis of Salisbury Maryland. Ellis was traveling northbound on Old Stage Road prior to the crash.
As a result of this initial collision Ellis’ vehicle spun out of control and veered into a Ford passenger car; which was traveling southbound on Old Stage Road.
Worley after causing the crash fled from the scene and was later apprehended by the Salisbury Police Department driving the stolen pickup truck. Worley was detained by Salisbury Police for unrelated crimes and later incarcerated into the Wicomico County Detention Center.
Delaware State Police obtained arrest warrants for the theft and attempted theft of two vehicles owned by the victim. Warrants for 6 other traffic violations were also obtained by State Police. Once Worley is extradited back to Delaware he will be formally charged for the aforementioned crimes.
