MAN ASSAULTED THEN ROBBED IN NEWARK

DSP News Release: Man Assaulted then Robbed in Newark
Location: Chestnut Hill Liquors, 744 E. Chestnut Hill Road, Newark, DE
Date of Occurrence: Monday, April 4, 2011 at 7:45 p.m.
Victim: 44 year old Wilmington, DE man
Suspects: Black male, 6’00”-6’02” tall. He was last seen wearing black pants and a white t-shirt.
Resume: Newark- The Delaware State Police are currently investigating the robbery of a Wilmington man that occurred in front of the Chestnut Hill Liquors store located in Newark last night.
The incident occurred at approximately 7:45 p.m., Monday, April 4, as a 44 year old Wilmington, DE man exited his vehicle after parking in front of the Chestnut Hill Liquors located in the 700 block of E. Chestnut Hill Road. As the victim walked on the sidewalk in front of the store, a male suspect emerged from the side of the building and approached the victim. The suspect then punched the victim in the face several times and demanded money from him. He then removed an undisclosed amount of money from the victim’s pants pocket and fled on a bicycle in a westbound direction. The victim suffered minor injuries.
