TROOPERS INVESTIGATE ROBBERY OF GAS STATION


DSP News Release: Troopers Investigate Robbery of Gas Station

 

Location: Shore Stop, 4235 S. DuPont Highway, Townsend, DE

 

Date of Occurrence: Sunday, April 3, 2011 at 10:50 p.m.

 

Victim: 

 

-32 year old Townsend, DE man

-25 year old Smyrna, DE man

 

Suspects:  

 

Suspect 1: Black male, 20-30 years of age, 6’00” tall, and 180 lbs. He had black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing dark jeans, a khaki Carhart jacket, and a green shirt covering his face. He was also armed with a knife.

 

Suspect 2: Black male, 20-30 years of age, 5’08”- 5’09” tall, and 160 lbs. He also had black hair and brown eyes and was last seen wearing dark jeans, a dark coat, and a white cloth covering his face. He was also armed with two knives.

Townsend- Delaware State Police detectives are currently investigating the robbery of a Townsend area gas station which occurred late last night.

 

The incident occurred as two male suspects entered the Shore Stop gas station located in the 4200 block of S. DuPont Highway, Townsend at approximately 10:50 p.m. last night. The suspects, who were both armed with knives, approached two male employees and demanded money from the cash registers. One of the clerks, a 25 year old Smyrna, DE man, complied and turned over an undisclosed amount of money to one of the suspects. As this was occurring, the other clerk, a 32 year old Townsend, DE man, picked up the business telephone and announced that he was calling the police. The 25 year old clerk then attempted to grab the money back from the suspect and was able to recover part of it. The suspects then fled the business and were last seen running northbound on DE Rt. 71. There were no injuries.
